In an effort to keep Ontario roads safe from impaired drivers, the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) is proud to support the Festive RIDE Program. The Program's strategy is to take alcohol and drug-impaired drivers off the roads. We urge citizens to always plan ahead by having a designated driver, staying overnight, or taking a cab or public transportation to keep yourself safe and also the safety of others on the road. Police Week | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Police Week was first observed in 1970 and coincides with Peace Officers Memorial Day, which is recognized internationally in May of each year. Each year a theme is chosen to highlight and celebrate the leadership role police officers and personnel play in helping Ontarians build and maintain a healthy and safe community all across the Province. During Police Week, the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) encourages police services to highlight their police service, their people, and their many accomplishments. Police officers and civilian personnel work tirelessly every day to earn the public's trust and confidence. It is important to use Police Week to help promote positive messaging.
