- On October 1, 2020, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) began collecting personal information from complainants and subject officers under the Anti-Racism Act, 2017. This is being done as part of the effort to track and eliminate systemic racism in the public sector and to promote racial equity. The SIU has shared it’s policy on data collection to the OACP. Our Professional Standards/SIU and Police Legal Advisors Committee has provided commentary for the Board of Directors, which will be shared with the SIU as deemed appropriate.
- The Criminal Law Division of the Ministry of the Attorney General has prepared supplementary police training materials on undertaking conditions as a result of the Bill C-75 updates to the Criminal Code.
