Ontario Police Leaders Call for Further Bail Reform to Enhance Public and Officer Safety
and Funding Justice for Indigenous Police Services

(Kingston, ON) – Members of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) passed a number of resolutions at the association’s 2023 OACP Annual General Meeting on June 14, 2023. The resolutions included ones on bail reform designed to keep members of the public and police officers safe and adding the voice of police leaders to growing calls from indigenous communities for funding justice when it comes to government support for indigenous police services.
Members of the OACP passed the resolutions during the association’s Annual Conference held in Kingston Ontario from June 11 to 14, 2023. Four resolutions were passed:
- Federal Legislative Bail Reform to Support Public and Officer Safety
- Exceptions of the Insurance Act of Ontario
- Careless Driving in a Private Place, Including Parking Lots
- Funding for Indigenous Policing
