OACP to Update Hate/Bias Crime Doc

The OACP’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee will embark on updating its Hate/Bias Crime resource document. This is an important endeavour given the recent spike in hate motivated crimes and incidents and related public concerns dur to current global conflicts.

To assist the OACP in its messaging in this area, we invite police services to provide us with any jurisdictional statistics, key messaging, etc. related to hate/bias crimes/incidents. We are looking at general trends in this area, not necessarily highlighting specific crimes/incidents against specific communities. Please contact Joe Couto at jcouto@oacp.ca for more information.

Police leaders have been unequivocal in stating that Ontario police services are determined to safeguard the safety of all members of our communities while respecting the right of Canadians to freedom of speech, protest, etc.
