OACP President Chief Antje McNeely hosted her last Board of Directors meeting on June 8, 2021. Thank you to all Board members who dedicated their time and expertise to the Board over the past 12 months. These have been extremely challenging times for all police leaders and personnel. Our Board members have not only led in their organizations but contributed to ensuring the OACP continued its service to its members, police personnel, and all our communities.
This Board meeting was the last meeting for Chief Andrew Fletcher (South Simcoe Police Service) and Chief Kimberly Greenwood (Barrie Police Service). Chief McNeely thanked them for their years of service, knowledge, and expertise on important issues impacting policing.
Chief McNeely will provide an Annual Report to all members that will be available at the OACP’s Annual General Meeting on June 16.
Members can access the Board agenda, which includes attachments, on the OACP website.
We were especially thankful for a presentation from Deputy Chief Anthony Odoardi (Peel Regional Police) for a very informative update on the NG 911 issue. The Board also engaged in a discussion on proposed resolutions that involved suspension without pay and mental health services with Gary Melanson (Legal Counsel, Waterloo Regional Police Service) and illegal online cannabis sales with Detective Inspector Jim Walker (OPP). The Board also received the 2021 OACP Committee Chairs Reports and are grateful for the tremendous work that is being done by all of the OACP Committees, Sub-Committees and Working Groups.
