The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) is pleased to announce that Emma Sweeney has joined the OACP team in the role of Communications Specialist. Reporting to the Director of Government Relations and Communications, Emma will start on August 26, 2024, and take over communications and media relations duties from Larissa Pereira, who will begin a Maternity Leave on August 30, 2024. Emma’s work with the OACP will be in a part-time role, which will allow her to continue to provide part-time services to the Owen Sound Police Service as a Social Media and Communications Consultant.
Emma holds a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University in English Literature and History. After completing her studies, she taught English-as-a-Second Language (ESL) for two years overseas in Daegu, South Korea, and Guangzhou, China.
After returning to Canada, she obtained her Post-Graduate Certificate from Humber College in Communications and Public Relations (Honours). Since then, she has gained experience working in communications roles in public relations agencies and municipal government.
