Detective Constable Stuart Parsons of the Toronto Police Service has been awarded the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police’s (OACP) Lifetime Achievement in Traffic Safety Award.
This award is presented to individual who has clearly devoted themselves and their policing efforts to furthering traffic safety in Ontario.
Throughout his 32-year career with the Toronto Police Service, Detective Constable Parsons has worked in the Traffic Services Unit, committing his career to traffic safety, traffic-related investigations, and professional collaboration in the prosecution process. He is an exceptional investigator with the relentless drive for holding those responsible for traffic offences accountable for their actions.
In 2005, Detective Constable Parsons joined the Investigation Office within Traffic Services and is currently responsible for investigating Fail to Remain collisions, Life-Threatening, and Fatal Collisions.
Detective Constable Parson has worked tirelessly to develop partnerships with various stakeholders such as Victim Services, the courts (both Criminal and Provincial), and victim advocacy groups, which have helped him ensure perpetrators are held to account for their actions advocating for victims. His experience, knowledge, ability, and comforting demeanor have proven irreplaceable when dealing with highly traumatic scenes, victims, and their families.
As a coach officer and mentor, Detective Constable Parsons excels at training frontline officers to thoroughly investigate complex cases from start to finish, passing on a lifetime of knowledge, experience, and service to the next generation of Traffic Safety Officers.
