The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) was established in 1951 and, on the occasion of the Association’s 70th anniversary year, several activities are being undertaken to celebrate and observe the progress made by Ontario’s police leaders over the past seven decades. A working group is coordinating various events that will help us celebrate seven decades of police leadership in Ontario. One project which we are undertaking is a collection of photographs of Ontario police officers and leaders at work over the years.
Many of Ontario’s police services have a historian or someone who may be an active or retired police officer, or a non-police member of their service or local community, who is a collector of police memorabilia and/or historical information. Members of the 70th anniversary working group wish to reach out to these curators of police history to solicit their assistance and input into a proposed pictorial/video overview highlighting the growth of our profession through the years.
If your organization does have a resident historian or someone similar, please consider forwarding that person’s contact information to Sharon Seepersad at sharons@oacp.ca.
