Best Practices to Address Incivility, Harassment and Discrimination in Policing
One-Day Workshop
The Provincial Working Group on Respectful Workplaces in Policing, co-chaired by the Toronto Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police, is pleased to announce its upcoming Fall Workshop. This event will focus on reviewing best practices and providing practical tools to assist police services in fostering and promoting respectful and inclusive workplace environments.
Established in 2021, the Working Group now consists of over 25 police services, collaborating on strategies to prevent and address workplace harassment and discrimination, with the goal of transforming workplace culture across policing.
Hosted by the OACP, the workshop will offer a valuable platform for exploring practical guidelines and tools designed to support police services of all sizes in the successful implementation of these best practices.
Topics:
- Overview on why police services should adopt the Working Group’s best practices
- Review of best practice toolkit relating to complaint intake and triaging, investigations, resolutions and restoration, education and prevention, and accountability
- Breakout session brainstorming and discussions on practical application of guidance to one’s own police service.
- Panel discussion on challenges, opportunities and lessons learned.
