At the 2021 Annual Conference, the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) was pleased to announce that we are now partnering with Wilfrid Laurier University (WLU) to advance education and learning for police personnel. The partnership’s mandate is to provide educational options in support of personal and professional development for Ontario police agencies and their members. With the support of the OACP, WLU will establish key relationships with police agencies across Ontario to introduce their program offerings that are uniquely suited for law enforcement and public safety employees. WLU’s policing and public safety programs include:
- a Combined Honours Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Policing (BACP);
- an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Policing (BAP);
- a Master of Public Safety (MPS); and
- a Graduate Diplomas in five areas of specialization.
The university provides comprehensive advisory services to all prospective students interested in their programs. In collaboration with the OACP, WLU will conduct information sessions to address public safety program requirements, course content, and their 100% online delivery. These sessions will provide an opportunity to discuss program management services related to degrees and graduate diplomas and to understand the benefits associated with the pursuit of continuous learning and personal development by police leaders, organizations, and their members.
WLU will be attending OACP Zone meetings in the upcoming months as the next phase of the partnership rolls out. To book an OACP/WLU co-hosted Information Session, please email Maggie Paoletta at maggie.paoletta@online.wlu.ca.
