2022 Targeting Risks of Serious Violence Course
You asked, we listened!
There has been positive feedback on the Cambridge Centre for Evidence-Based Policing (CCEBP) Targeting Risks of Serious Violence in-person course. Based on the feedback, CCEBP has changed the structure of the course to make it suitable for everyone working to tackle serious violence, not just those in analytical roles.
The course will now be split into two parts. The first 3 days will provide the general theory behind tackling serious violence and the remaining 2 days will cover the analytical techniques to support this. Learners can choose to attend for 3 or 5 days depending on their role and learning needs.
The course will include tutor groups looking at data and case studies to cover themes such as:
- Identifying people most likely to be victimized by serious violence;
- Tracking serious violent crime using the Cambridge Crime Harm Index (CCHI);
- Predicting micro-hot spots where violence is most likely to occur;
- Tracking activities by hot spots in relation to crime trends;
- Tracking criminal networks and their trends in serious violence;
- Testing the impact of strategies applied to specific targets.
This course is open to anyone from any organization wanting to address serious violence or other crime trends through evidence-based practice. It will also support Police GRIP projects for 2022-2023 by building on learning identified from the review of the 18 GRIP forces approach in 2021-2022.
The next course is being held from August 1st to 5th, 2022. The full 5 day course costs £1000.00 + VAT. The 3 day element costs £600.00 + VAT. Accommodation can be provided at an additional cost of £110.00 + VAT per night.
