Retired Detective Sergeant, Ken Clark, from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office served as a
police officer from 1992 – 2021. Clark was the supervisor in the homicide bureau in 2018 and was the lead investigator for the Golden State Killer cold case.
The Golden State Killer, Joseph DeAngelo, was linked to 13 murders, over 50 sexual assaults and over 100 incidents including break and enter, vandalism, peeping and stalking in the 1970’s and 1980’s in various counties across Northern California.
In 2018, DeAngelo was caught after crime scene DNA matched with genetic material from a distant cousin who was registered to a genealogy website. 

In July 2020, a female went for a walk in her Durham neighbourhood. When she didn’t return home her
husband searched for her but could not locate her. The Durham Police were called, and a missing person
investigation commenced. The female was brutally sexually assaulted by a stranger and for 13 hours she was left naked in a creek bed less than a km from her home.
As a result of a thorough investigation which included media releases and video surveillance, the offender was identified.
This is Kimberley’s story of resilience, the investigation that led to the capture of the offender, and an
exploration into the criminal mindset of a sexual predator.
