Media Release: Ontario’s Police Leaders Make Recommendations on Regulation of Cannabis

(Toronto, ON) -The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) has provided recommendations to the Federal and Provincial Governments related to illegal online cannabis sales and the personal production of cannabis for medical purposes designed to ensure that consumers are protected, and to counter organized criminal activity in this area. The OACP Board of Directors has passed resolution in relation to the need for the replacement of the Automated Criminal Intelligence Information System (ACIIS) for Law Enforcement in Canada. The resolution was developed by our Intelligence and Organized Crime Committee.

Ontario’s police leaders are calling on the Government of Ontario to amend its policy on the use of courthouse cellblocks to allow them to be used after hours by municipal police services.
