The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) has partnered with Kids Help Phone (KHP) to support police members and their families during difficult times. KHP is Canada’s only 24/7 national support service. The organization provides professional counselling, information and referrals, and volunteer-led, text-based support to young people in English and French. Drive-off or “gas-and-dash” thefts continue to be a concern for Ontario’s police leaders. These crimes continue to contribute to injuries and even the deaths of service station employees and force police services across Ontario to allocate police resources to respond to these crimes, impacting their ability to respond to other community priorities.

(Toronto, ON) – Ontario’s police leaders are calling for “substantive and sweeping” changes to the current police discipline system – including suspension without pay – in order to address issues of public trust, confidence, and transparency when an officer commits serious misconduct.
