Committees Meet in Garden River & S.S. Marie

The Ontario Media Relations Officers Network (OMRON) held a conference in Sault Ste. Marie on September 14 and 15, 2023. Members reviewed the committee constitution and voted on a new name for the committee (official announcement to come!), as well as engaged in roundtable discussions. Geraldine Stafford (Waterloo Regional Police Service) also delivered an insightful presentation on incorporating EDI principles into communication practices, which was enjoyed by all.

The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) Board of Directors met in Garden River and Sault Ste. Marie on September 13 and 14, 2023. Thank you to co-hosts Chief Jeff Skye, Anishinabek Police Service, and Chief Hugh Stevenson, Sault Ste. Marie Police Service for providing the Board with a fulsome experience in the region. Honouring the Fallen

The 2023 Canadian Police and Peace Officers’ Memorial will take place on Sunday, September 24, in Ottawa. This year, eleven serving Police Officers and two historical officers are being recognized.
It has been a difficult year for the police community across Canada. OACP members and Ontario police personnel attending the Memorial will be doing so with heavy hearts but hopeful that we can prevent future tragedies and continue to support fallen police members and families.
