Standing together to make a difference

Police CEOs Day (PoliceCEOs)

Thank you to all the Chiefs, Deputy Chiefs, and senior police leaders who attended and spoke at our recent Police CEOs Day, which took place September 27, 2018 in Vaughan, ON.  Attendees learned about a number of issues impacting police services, including:

  1. Cannabis legalization, Supervised Injection Sites, the opioid crisis, and the anticipated full decriminalization of illegal substances;
  2. The political environment in the Province;
  3. Update on Bill 175, the Safer Ontario Act; and
  4. First Nations policing issues in Ontario and its implications for all police services and Communities.

We were also pleased to have the Honourable Michael Tibollo, Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services, as our Dinner Speaker. The Minister touched on many of the Government of Ontario’s public safety priorities including greater public support for policing from the Provincial Government and the situation around the use of Naloxone by police personnel when they encounter someone experiencing an opioid overdose.

For more information on any of these areas, please contact Joe Couto at jcouto@oacp.ca. You can review some of our social media postings from the CEOs Day by accessing the hashtag #PoliceCEOs.
