  • Chief Eric Jolliffe will be retiring from York Regional Police after 40 years of service. A Retirement Celebration in honour of the Chief is being held on Thursday, April 30, 2020, at the Sheraton Parkway Hotel, 600 Highway 7 East, Richmond Hill. For more information, click here.
  • Deputy Chief Paul Martin of the Guelph Police Service will retire after 36 years of dedicated service to the Guelph Police Service and the community. Information on a retirement celebration will be shared with OACP members when it becomes available.
  • Also announcing his retirement is Deputy Chief Kevin Chalk of the Waterloo Regional Police Service, effective February 29, 2020. We will share information on a retirement celebration when it becomes available.
  • This year’s Rotman Police Leadership Program will take place from October 26 to November 13, 2020. We will be providing more information on this program – a partnership between the OACP and the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management – in the next few weeks.
  • It’s never too early to start planning for this year’s Police Week, which takes place from May 10 to 16, 2020. Police Week was first observed in 1970 and coincides with Peace Officers Memorial Day, which is recognized internationally on May 15.
  • Ontario police leaders, please consider having your police service represented at the upcoming Advancing We in Policing – Ontario 2020 Workshop Agenda being held in Niagara Falls February 19 to 21, 2020.The workshop will feature a number of Ontario police leaders, including OACP President Chief Paul Pedersen, OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique, RCMP Assistant Commissioner Jodie Boudreau, York Regional Police Deputy Chief Robertson Rouse, Peel Regional Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah, OPP Superintendent Susanne Decock and Peel Regional Police Deputy Chief Ingrid Berkeley-Brown.   • The Ontario Women in Law Enforcement 22nd Annual Awards Banquet is being held on May 1st, 2020 at the Mississauga Convention Center. The OWLE will be recognizing the outstanding achievements of Women in Law Enforcement across the province of Ontario. Included are Long Service Awards for 25 years, 30 years, 35 years, 40 years and 45 years. Also included are major awards in the following categories: Bravery, Civilian Award of Achievement, Leadership, Mentoring & Coaching, Community Service Award, Teamwork, Innovation, Excellence in Performance, Law Enforcement Professional of the Year, Heritage Award and Presidential Award.
